Maxis Missing from My Wardrobe


You know its summer when...there are a lot of maxis in the air, be it skirts or dresses as every woman need to have something cool to wear when its hot out.  

But could you believe I live in a tropical country and don't own a maxi dress?!? Well believe it cause I kid you not. So the quest of owning a maxi dress was on and I was eyeing the ever popular McCall's 6559, but I also had an event in mind that I wanted to wear it to. However as I don't live in the US, I would have to order the pattern online which will take some time to be delivered. 


I decided to improvise...yes improvise, and improvise I did. :)

I created my own pattern from an old racer back tee and the results were astonishing...I could not believe myself. Below are a few pics, let me know what you think...

I am really pleased with the way it turned out and the feeling was very rewarding knowing I constructed it all by myself. YAY ME!!!

    Very nice! You are channeling the ever-popular McCall's 6559 pattern with your DIY racer-back version. I love it!

      Thanks Susan, yes McCall's 6559. That's the pattern I was about to purchase before I decided to improvise. LOL

    Love this type of maxi and yours turned out great! I made one recently for my coworker (see my blog) and just lengthened a Burda pattern.

    Tricia, this dress is awesome! I love the fabric and the fit is perfect too! You didn't give us any back shots though!! I would love to have seen the back of this dress too! You did an awesome job, it's absolutely beautiful on you!
